Gilman Hall built was built during 1916-1917, the expanded College of Chemistry under Gilbert N. Lewis (1875-1946), famous for his covalent bond formalism known as "Lewis dot structures." Another prominent feature which helps us orient ourselves through the decades (but has nothing to do with our "Rediscovery" time-line) is the Hearst Mining Building and Hearst Mining Circle, built in 1902.
